US Bureau of Indian Affairs Brass Lock by
Slaymaker. Thick and heavy, measures 2 1/2" by 3 7/8". This lock
has an unusual dust cover / post area with a hinge where the clevis would
normally be. Many markings on the shackle: "3
AH 2417" along with the Slaymaker hallmark. Almost like new
condition. Info from a collector: This lock was made for the U. S.
Bureau of Industrial Alcohol, formed in 1930 as a unit of the Bureau of
Internal Revenue, with both falling under the Department of the Treasury. I
have seen this marking on this style lock misidentified as Indian Affairs
