Lot #137 - 40 Steam Negatives - Colorado Narrow Gauge - Pardee Collection
This is a group of 40 4" by 2 1/2" negatives.
They all seem to be one late 1940s trip to Colorado. Narrow Gauge
Steam is the theme. Mr. Pardee wrote ahead because his last trip was during
WWII and he couldn't ride a mixed train and wanted to make sure he could get
some good rides in. I have his letters and the return letters from the
D&RG with schedule details. I will try to mate these letters back with
this lot. These are
original negatives. These negatives are from the collection
of Lewis Pardee who lived in Collingswood, New Jersey. E. Lewis Pardee was a
long time member and also President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the RL&HS
a long time ago. Mr. Pardee traveled extensively and many of the negatives
and prints in this auction are from his collection. Some trips date back to
the 1930s and 1940s. He was a prolific photographer. Many of the negatives
and prints we are offering are unique views.
