Lot #48 - Eastern Railroad Brakemen Hat badge
Very old hat badge from the Eastern
Railroad with slot mount ends, ornate lettering with filigree, fancy tooling
along edge and made by Mitchell in Boston. Measures 4 1/4" by 1
1/16". Nicely nickel plated with nice normal wear through the plating
in a few spots lend authenticity to use on this pre-1886 badge. The Boston
& Maine took over the Eastern in 1885 so this is a very old badge. The
Mitchell hallmark is clear on the reverse.
