Lot #097A - Brady Patent Brasstop Bellbottom cast iron base Lantern
Brasstop Bellbottom "Brady"
patent Railroad lantern. This is an earlier Brady patent with the cast iron
base. There are at least 5 different Brady style frame designs. Neither the
frame or globe are marked for a specific railroad. This lantern has smaller
intake holes in the bell. The top assembly and access to the globe is via
two thumb springs on the upper portion of the base. This mechanism is stiff.
Access to the fount is via two lower thumb springs and they have been
restored without protruding buttons. The fount was electrified and it could
be restored. The brass top is exceptionally clean. It has old black paint
that is not hiding any damage. The globe is intact and these globes are very
hard to find. Good basic condition.
