We are expanding the April 24, 2010 railroadiana auction to include a sale at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 23. The Friday night event has been a tradition at the prior Railroad sales at the Brookline Auction Gallery. This allows both our far-afield traveling buyers and local working buyers to have more opportunity to participate.

There may be many questions about the differences between the Friday and Saturday sales, and the following is an attempt to anticipate and address these questions.

Why have a Friday evening sale:

We have a larger than expected volume of material for the Saturday sale. In order to guarantee a high quality catalog for the Saturday sale we are adding a Friday evening sale. Some of the Friday evening items will be sold in larger groups.

What to expect Friday evening:

1)      There will be a numbered list of lots with brief descriptions.

2)      A printed list will be available at the auction hall for $2

3)      A free list can be obtained online.

4)      A picture gallery page of Friday items is now available

5)      Many lots will consist of multiple items (4 tin cans, 12 lantern globes, etc.).

6)      Some items will almost certainly not be perfect.

7)      Unlike the Saturday sale where your items are held until you have paid your bill, Friday evening items are delivered right to you.

8)      The items should be sold in sequential lot order.

9)      For preview purposes both the Friday and Saturday items will be available during normal preview hours.

10)  As always, buyers are strongly encouraged to inspect all items carefully.

11)   All items are sold “as is.”

12)   Some great finds have been made in the bottom of a box on a Friday night.

13)   Buyers are responsible for paying for their Friday evening purchases on Friday evening before leaving the auction hall.
