Lot #410 - 3 New York Central 125th Street Revenue Audit tags
This is a group of 3 brass revenue tags.
All are from 125th Street Station in New York City . They are sequential in
number. These tags are: (1) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York,
NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #255 (2) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York,
NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #256 (3) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York,
NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #257 They are all uncleaned showing some
tarnish. This type of tag was used by the Passenger Revenue Department of
the New York Central Railroad. Most measure 5" by 2 1/2". They are
thick, heavy brass. They weight in at about 7 1/2 oz each. That means that 2
weigh almost a pound. These tags were used on canvas mail bags to transport
passenger revenue information so that audits could be performed at
centralized locations. All of these tags are from one large collection.
