Lot #410 - 3 New York Central 125th Street Revenue Audit tags

 

arl21 Railroad New York Central  Size 5" by 2 1/2"  Condition Excellent This is a group of 3 brass revenue tags. All are from 125th Street Station in New York City . They are sequential in number. These tags are: (1) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York, NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #255  (2) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York, NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #256  (3) Ticket Agent 125th Street, New York, NY - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #257  They are all uncleaned showing some tarnish. This type of tag was used by the Passenger Revenue Department of the New York Central Railroad. Most measure 5" by 2 1/2". They are thick, heavy brass. They weight in at about 7 1/2 oz each. That means that 2 weigh almost a pound. These tags were used on canvas mail bags to transport passenger revenue information so that audits could be performed at centralized locations.
