Lot #323 - Dietz Vesta Brass Navy Marine Lantern

 

la20 Railroad US Navy  Size 4" tall globe  Condition Fair This Dietz Vesta model was contracted as a WWI brass Maine model. The outcome of this design is obvious in this example. The brass would split open on the vent area. It is very rare to find one of these solid brass lanterns that does not have the typical splitting. The lid has a form that is not like the railroad style Vesta models. The globe is unmarked except the Dietz Vesta marking. One nice thing is the dark color.
