arl28 Railroad New York Central  Size 5" by 2 1/2"  Condition Excellent This is a group of 6 brass revenue tags. They are from various states. These tags are:  (1) Ticket Agent - Syracuse, New York - Auditor of Passenger Revenue, Detroit, Michigan #63 (tall lettering) (2) Ticket Agent - 125th Street, New York, NY - Auditor of Passenger Revenue, Detroit, Michigan #259  (3) Ticket Agent Kalamazoo, Mich - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #31  (4) Ticket Agent Battle Creek, Mich - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #48  (5) Ticket Agent Gary, Indiana - Auditor of Passenger Revenue, Detroit, Michigan #67  (6) Ticket Agent Erie, Penn - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #58  They are all uncleaned showing some tarnish. This type of tag was used by the Passenger Revenue Department of the New York Central Railroad. Most measure 5" by 2 1/2". They are thick, heavy brass. They weight in at about 7 1/2 oz each. That means that 2 weigh almost a pound. These tags were used on canvas mail bags to transport passenger revenue information so that audits could be performed at centralized locations.
