Lot #250 - 3 Michigan Brass Revenue Audit tags

 

arl24 Railroad New York Central  Size 5" by 2 1/2"  Condition Excellent This is a group of 3 brass revenue tags from Michigan. These tags are: (1) Ticket Agent Ann Arbor, Mich - Auditor Passenger Revenue, Detroit, Michigan #205  (2) Ticket Agent Battle Creek, Mich - Auditor Passenger Revenue, Detroit, Michigan #213  (3) Ticket Agent Kalamazoo, Mich - Auditor Passenger Accounts, Detroit, Michigan #249.  They all have "NYCRR" stamped above the strap opening on both sides. This type of tag was used by the Passenger Revenue Department of the New York Central Railroad. Most measure 5" by 2 1/2". They are thick, heavy brass. They weight in at about 7 1/2 oz each. That means that 2 weigh almost a pound. These tags were used on canvas mail bags to transport passenger revenue information so that audits could be performed at centralized locations.
