Lot #245 - 2 New York State Dater Dies

 

arl60 Railroad New York Central  Size standard  Condition vg /excellent This is a group of 2 brass dater machine dies from Upstate New York. They vary a bit in condition and they have not been cleaned. The last picture is a digital manipulation. Because the dies read backwards, it is awkward to read them. This group includes: (1) Calcium, NY #2 (small place)  (2) Carthage, NY #2 Are these Rome Watertown and Ogdensburg predecessors? Dater dies were used in machines to validate tickets. The dater machines require a die. The dies usually have a location a and a number to help identify who stamped a ticket.
