Lot #202 - Vermont Central Railroad Switch Key with Employee Name and Historyy

Railroad Vermont Central
Size 2" + length
Condition Excellent

This special key was made by J. L. Howard in Hartford, Connecticut. It also has the name of the employee it was issued to: John O'Neil. It has a fabulous taper and it is serial number 27 and the standard VtCRR stamping. This key pre-dates the 1873 name change from Vermont Central to Central Vermont. A friend did some research on John O'Neil using old Census reports and came up with his home address and family history. That research material will be included. This is a special key. Few keys are marked for a specific person that can be identified in historical records. The key itself is very nice with a large diameter bit. Very Good condition.
