Lot #161 - Grafton & Upton Railroad Company pin-back Badge #22

 

ba17 Railroad Grafton & Upton  Size 1 5/8" diameter Condition Excellent The "G&URRCo" stands for: Grafton & Upton Railroad Company. This pin back badge measures 1 5/8" in diameter. It was made by S. M. Spencer in Boston. This was made for Employee #22. Smaller operations didn't tend to order badges based on occupations. They just ordered a sequential number of badges and then recorded who was issued what number. This is an interesting Massachusetts short line. It had a few lives and it did interchange with the Boston & Albany. There are some filing marks to the pin solder on the reverse. The pin was probably repaired at some point.
