Lot #158 - Erie Railroad "Mail" Bag with brass Tag attached

 

mi14 Railroad Erie  Size bag = 33 by 29, tag = 3 1/2 by 2 Condition Good - some wear to bag surface A stencil on the side really is Erie Lackawanna with the EL having gaps between the legs. The attached brass tag is the 3 1/2" by 2" size used for earlier baggage tags. The brass tag has a slot and the reverse has an Erie form for "Mail Baggage" with a printed serial number. The whole bag is large, measuring in at 33" tall and 29" across the base. The top is cotton with heavy steel grommets for the rope tie. The base (I think ) is leather.
