Lot #112 - Chesapeake & Ohio - Syracuse "George Washington" Service Plate

With original embossed box and wrapping paper

dc20 Railroad Chesapeake & Ohio  Size 10 1/2" diameter Condition Excellent This gold "Service Plate" measures 10 1/2" in diameter. It has the wide gold band. It is gorgeous. Even closing your eyes and slowing running your finger along the edge reveals a very nice smoothness. This original box set C&O George Washington Service Plate commemorates the 200 year anniversary of George Washington's birth. It was made by Syracuse (OPCo) in an "Old Ivory:" style. The original box and wrapping paper is included. The box edge measures almost 11". The box is embossed with the anniversary information. There is one pit mark in the manufacturing process to the resting ring on the bottom. It was glazed over in the firing process so it's not really a flaw. This plate will be 80 years old next year. The original box shows some wear but no splits. The plate is in Mint condition. The last picture in blue is the detail on the box cover.    Return to Auction Listing copyright Scott Czaja 2011
