Lot #110 - 3 NYC Brass Passenger Revenue Audit tags

 

arl78 Railroad New York Central  Size 5" by 2 1/2"  Condition Excellent This is a group of 3 brass revenue tags. They all have "NYCRR" stamped above the strap opening. These tags are:  (1) Ticket Agent LaSalle Street Station Chicago - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #16  (2) Ticket Agent LaSalle Street Station Chicago - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #17  (3) Ticket Agent LaSalle Street Station Chicago - W. G. Reynolds, Lexington Ave, New York, NY #18  They are all uncleaned and could be polished up to a brassy shine. This type of tag was used by the Passenger Revenue Department of the New York Central Railroad. Most measure 5" by 2 1/2". They are thick, heavy brass. They weight in at about 7 1/2 oz each. That means that 2 weigh almost a pound. These tags were used on canvas mail bags to transport passenger revenue information so that audits could be performed at centralized locations.
